The Story Cafe took a thirty-year-old warehouse off Sexsmith Road, filled it with classic records, old instruments and antique clutter, then put a genuinely serious kitchen behind it. The day menu runs 8am to 2:45pm, which in Richmond makes it a rare thing: somewhere properly good to eat before eleven. Crab cake bennies and waffles are what the regulars order, the coffee is decent, and the heated patio is dog friendly. It has taken OpenTable's Diners' Choice five years running, which is a lot of votes for a room most people drive straight past.
