More infoThe Story Cafe took a thirty-year-old warehouse off Sexsmith Road, filled it with classic records, old instruments and antique clutter, then put a genuinely serious kitchen behind it. The day menu runs 8am to 2:45pm, which in Richmond makes it a rare thing: somewhere properly good to eat before eleven. Crab cake bennies and waffles are what the regulars order, the coffee is decent, and the heated patio is dog friendly. It has taken OpenTable's Diners' Choice five years running, which is a lot of votes for a room most people drive straight past.
Walk-ins are welcome from 9am and the day menu runs 8am to 2:45pm, so anything earlier than 9 is first come first served. Ask for the heated patio if the sun is out and a table by the record wall if it is not. Order the crab cake benny and a waffle across the table, then a second coffee; the kitchen is generous, so pace it. Give it about an hour and a half. Aberdeen Centre and the Canada Line are five minutes down No. 3 Road when you want the afternoon to keep going.
