Oceanfront Seafood at The Beach House, Dundarave

A 1912 heritage room at the foot of Dundarave Pier, gutted so nothing stands between the table and Burrard Inlet.

More info

The date

The building went up in 1912 as the Clachan, a tea room and hotel for ferry passengers, and has been feeding West Vancouver in one form or another ever since. The 2019 rebuild took out the fireplace and the television for one reason: so nothing blocks the water. South-facing windows now look straight down Burrard Inlet, the walls carry West Vancouver Archives photographs alongside Gordon Smith and Susan Point works, and the pergola patio has three retractable roofs and heaters, so it works in February as well as July. The menu rotates around whatever seafood is in season. Dundarave Pier is thirty steps away.
