Troll's has been frying halibut at the edge of Horseshoe Bay since 1946, which makes it genuinely, measurably older than most of the infrastructure you crossed to get here. This fact deserves a moment. The room gives you paper menus and big windows onto the marina, the line moves at the brisk pace of a staff who have done this for thousands of Fridays, and the fish is crisp in exactly the way that fish should be. The chips are proper chips. The whole thing costs a fraction of a restaurant date and feels twice as charming. Eat in and watch the boats.
