This policy explains what personal information Date Spark collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep this short and plain on purpose. If anything here is unclear, email us at hello@datespark.ca and we will walk you through it. This policy works alongside our Terms of Service.
Date Spark is a date-idea discovery app for Greater Vancouver and Victoria, British Columbia. We are operated from British Columbia, Canada. For any privacy question, correction, or request, contact us at hello@datespark.ca. Date Spark is the party accountable for the personal information it holds under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
We aim to collect only what we need to run the app well. Here is each type of information and the reason we hold it.
Some practices are common online that we simply do not follow.
We rely on a small set of trusted providers to run the app. They process data only to provide their service to us.
Some of these providers process data in the United States. Where that happens, your information may be subject to the laws of that country.
We use two kinds of cookies. Sign-in session cookies are essential and keep you logged in as you move around the app. First-party analytics cookies help us measure what works so we can improve. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
When you first visit, a banner lets you accept or decline the optional analytics cookies. You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie Preferences link in the site footer.
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, and to request an export of your data. To make a request, email hello@datespark.ca and we will respond within 30 days. When you delete your account, we remove your personal data, with narrow exceptions where the law requires us to keep certain records.
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete that data, and our backups purge it on their regular cycle. We keep consent records as proof of compliance.
We use industry-standard safeguards, including HTTPS, encrypted storage, and scoped access to data. No system is perfect, so if a breach ever creates a real risk of significant harm, we are committed to notifying affected users and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, as required under PIPEDA.
Date Spark is intended for adults 18 and over. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will remove it.
We may update this policy from time to time. When a change is material, we will announce it on the site. If you continue to use Date Spark after notice of a change, that means you accept the updated policy.
If you have a concern about how we handle your information, please contact us first at hello@datespark.ca so we can try to resolve it. If your concern remains unresolved, you may bring it to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
