Sophie's has fed Kitsilano since 1988 from a room so stuffed with vintage toys, lunchboxes, and glorious junk that the decor is basically a hands-on museum you browse while waiting for food. The menu is unapologetic diner comfort: buttermilk pancakes that loom, omelettes the size of a hardback. Arrive at the 4th and Arbutus corner, start pointing at the walls together, and watch the morning vanish.
