Foodie Experiences
A Kits diner since 1988, so stuffed with vintage toys and lunchboxes there's barely room for the towering buttermilk pancakes.
Sophie's has been feeding Kitsilano since 1988 from a room so thoroughly stuffed with vintage toys, lunchboxes, and assorted junk that the decor is essentially a hands-on museum you browse while waiting for the food. The menu is unapologetic diner comfort: buttermilk pancakes that loom, eggs benny done properly, omelettes the size of a hardback book. The portions assume you've been fasting since the previous Saturday, which they will happily correct. It's nostalgic, wildly photogenic, and a little ridiculous, which turns out to be an excellent energy for a daytime date that doesn't need to announce itself. The corner room at 4th and Arbutus is genuinely fun: arrive, start pointing at the walls together, and watch the whole morning disappear into someone else's childhood toys and giant pancakes.
