FIVE sits on Marine Drive directly across from the White Rock pier, so the water is doing half the work before anything reaches the table. It is a raw bar first, freshly shucked BC oysters at the counter, then a kitchen that runs New England shack through a Lebanese filter: paella with chorizo and clams, seafood in a spicy tomato broth, beer-battered cod, lobster ravioli when it feels generous. Open 11:30 to 10 every day, which on this strip counts as unusually reliable, and the patio is the seat everyone is after.
