The Wooden Spoon does one thing and does it hard: brunch and lunch, 9 to 3, seven days. Almost everything possible is made in the building, breads, pastas, sauces and the butchery included, with produce from growers a few minutes down the road, and the kitchen has the confidence to put a Kahuna French Toast and a vegetarian hash on the same page and mean both. The room is small and rustic, which is exactly why the line builds fast and why they hold tables to a seating limit. Book it. Uptown White Rock is then a five-minute roll down the hill to the pier.
