Michelin Tasting at Burdock & Co

Andrea Carlson's candle-lit Michelin star in Mount Pleasant, where the Moon tasting menus track exactly what BC is growing this week.

Burdock and Co is the date you book when you want to feel genuinely good about where you're eating, in the slightly nerdy, this-strawberry-is-from-a-specific-farm way. Andrea Carlson earned a Michelin star in a small, candle-lit corner of Mount Pleasant by cooking some of the most obsessively local, foraged-and-fermented food in the country, and the ever-shifting Moon tasting menus mean you're eating exactly what BC is producing this week, not last season's greatest hits. Low-intervention wines keep pace with the kitchen. It's intimate, it's quiet, and there's a pleasant ingredient-nerdiness to the whole evening that makes conversation flow without anyone having to try. The room is tiny and the reputation is large, so book ahead. Arrive hungry, go slow, and remember you don't have to understand every ferment to enjoy it.
