Scenic & Romantic
Former basalt quarry turned sunken flower garden, with a stone bridge that has starred in approximately every Vancouver wedding photo.
Someone turned an old basalt quarry into the most quietly romantic free thing in Vancouver, and it shows in the best possible way. A winding path drops you into a sunken bowl of manicured flower beds, a little stream, and a stone bridge that has appeared in so many local wedding photos it probably has its own publicist. Climb back out and the lookout delivers the downtown skyline and the North Shore mountains reflected in a still pool like an overachiever who read the brief. It is free, it is spectacular in every season, and walking it slowly with someone is the whole point. Time it for late afternoon when the light gets good, and if the sky turns sideways, the Bloedel dome is right next door.
