Scenic & Romantic
Sailboats, mountains, evergreens and a flat free walk from Jericho to Locarno. Vancouver's gentlest waterfront at late afternoon.
The Jericho-to-Locarno stretch runs itself at a pace that seems designed to force good conversation, which is either a feature or a warning depending on how things are going. Start at Jericho Beach Park where the sailing club's boats dot the water, then walk west under the big evergreens toward Locarno's quieter sand. The whole way you have the North Shore mountains lined up across English Bay and the city skyline to the east, postcard from every angle and almost no one rushing. It is flat, free, and made for the kind of walk where nobody quite knows where they're going but nobody minds. Bring a coffee, set out late afternoon, let it all unspool at its own pace, and arrive at Locarno for a sunset you didn't technically plan but will absolutely take credit for.
