Scenic & Romantic
Tiny rainbow ferries, five-minute crossing, Granville Island oysters, and a skyline that glows on the way home.
This is the date that sounds too easy to be this good. From the Sunset Beach dock at the foot of Thurlow, you board one of the dinky False Creek ferries, the rainbow Aquabus or the blue False Creek Ferries, both roughly the size of a particularly confident bathtub, and putter across to Granville Island in about five minutes. Over there: the Public Market, oysters and cheese and something sweet, artisan studios to drift through, maybe a drink with a marina view. Then you catch the ferry back across False Creek, and if you time it right the downtown skyline is glowing and you step off right at English Bay for the last of the light. The whole crossing costs under twenty bucks. The most charming car-free date in the city, and almost nobody plans it on purpose.
