More infoThis date sounds too easy to be this good. From the Sunset Beach dock, board a dinky False Creek ferry, roughly the size of a confident bathtub, and putter across to Granville Island in about five minutes. Graze the Public Market for oysters and something sweet, then catch a ferry back as the downtown skyline glows. The whole crossing runs under twenty bucks, and almost nobody plans it on purpose.
From the ferry dock at the foot of Thurlow (right on English Bay), hop one of the little False Creek ferries, the rainbow Aquabus from the nearby Hornby St dock, or the blue False Creek Ferries right at the beach. It's about $4-8 each way (Aquabus sells a ~$22 all-day pass if you want to keep hopping), and boats run roughly every 5-15 minutes from about 7 am to 9 pm, later in summer, earlier in winter, so check the operator before you go. Cruise the five minutes across to Granville Island, graze the Public Market and browse the artisans for an hour or so, then catch a ferry back across False Creek to the beach. It's the most charming car-free way to pair the island with English Bay.
