An iconic zig-zag staircase down through forest to a quiet pebble beach with big Boundary Bay sunsets and balancing-rock cairns.
1001 Steps is the Ocean Park secret that everyone secretly knows: a long zig-zag staircase, close to 284 steps, dropping through forest to a quiet pebble beach that looks west across Boundary Bay to Point Roberts. At low light it is one of the best sunset perches on this coast, with the local tradition of balancing-rock cairns dotting the shore. Add the bluff-top forest paths of Kwomais Point Park right next door and you have a proper walk with a payoff. It is free, a little bit of a workout on the way back up, and quietly romantic.
