Roses and a Bandshell in Queen's Park

New Westminster's 1887 flagship park keeps a formal rose garden, an arbour and a bandshell, and charges nothing for any of it.

More info

The date

Queen's Park has been New Westminster's big green room since 1887, and the rose garden at its heart is the part worth planning around: formal beds, an arbour to stand under, a gazebo that wedding parties queue for, and benches placed to face the whole thing. Around it sit a centennial grove of mature trees, gravel paths through the arboretum, an outdoor amphitheatre and a decent chance of a brass band on a warm weekend. Seventy five acres, free, open all hours, and at its absolute peak from June into September.
