Cloverdale is Surrey's oldest downtown, and its compact grid around 176 Street has kept its 1870s bones: low heritage storefronts, painted murals, hanging flower baskets, and a row of antique, vintage, and consignment shops worth ducking into. It is a regular stand in for small town America on screen, from Smallville to a run of Hallmark films, and that film set charm is real when you walk it. The City of Surrey even signs a heritage walking route through it. As a date it is low key and free: a five block amble hand in hand, poking through old shops and stopping for coffee, that pairs with the museum and the restaurants already on the street.
