Arrive an hour before sundown on Port Moody's waterfront pier, stay for the ice cream, extend with the nearby brewery row.
Rocky Point is Port Moody's entire personality, and the hype is, unusually, accurate. Walk out to the end of the recreational pier in the late afternoon and watch the sun settle over the calm head of Burrard Inlet in the particular slow way it does there, then drift back and onto the Shoreline Trail's wooden boardwalk, which cuts through the marshy inlet edge with benches every time you feel like stopping the walk to continue the conversation. Ice cream and fish and chips wait at the foot of the pier if your timing is right. Brewery row sits a short walk inland if the evening wants extending. All of this is free and flat and, yes, genuinely lovely. Aim to arrive about an hour before sundown and let the light do the rest.
