More infoYew Lake cuts you a deal: show up at the top of Cypress Bowl Road and it hands over genuine subalpine scenery, old-growth yellow cedar and boardwalk views across a marshy lake, without demanding a single blister. The loop is 2 km of flat gravel, smooth enough for strollers and done in under an hour at a dawdle. Stop on the boardwalk for the lake's mountain-mirror trick. Note: no dogs.
Start from the main Cypress Bowl day-use lot at the top of Cypress Bowl Road; the Yew Lake trailhead is right by the kiosk near the downhill ski base. The full loop is a flat ~2 km on smooth gravel and boardwalk with barely any elevation, so it's a relaxed 45-60 minutes and is stroller- and wheelchair-friendly. Take the boardwalk side for the best reflection of the surrounding peaks in the marshy lake, read the interpretive signs on the bog and old-growth yellow cedar, and don't miss the picnic tables tucked along the route for a flask-and-snacks pause. Want a little more? Add the short uphill spur to Bowen Lookout for an island view, then return to the loop. Heads-up: dogs are not permitted on this trail, and it's snow-covered in winter.
