Alpine scenery at Cypress without the climb: a flat 2 km loop, a marshy lake, and zero blisters required.
Yew Lake makes a deal with you: show up at the top of Cypress Bowl Road and it delivers genuine subalpine scenery, mountains, old-growth yellow cedar, and boardwalk views over a marshy lake, without asking for a single blister in return. The loop is 2 km of flat gravel, smooth enough for strollers and wheelchairs, and takes well under an hour at a dawdle. Interpretive signs explain the bog. Picnic tables appear at strategically perfect moments. The whole thing is free, the parking is free, and it is one of the rare actual mountain settings you can reach without first proving something about yourself. Pack a flask and snacks, take the longer way around, and stop on the boardwalk to watch the lake do its mountain-mirror trick. Note: no dogs allowed, and in winter this is snow country.
