More infoLights at Lafarge is the free one. The City of Coquitlam lights up the loop around Lafarge Lake in Town Centre Park every winter and bills it as Metro Vancouver's largest free outdoor winter lights display, so the only ticket you need is a SkyTrain fare. The 2026 season opens on Friday, November 27 with an opening night celebration from 5 to 8pm: the light displays, food trucks and live entertainment. On November 4 the City had not posted the season's closing date or nightly hours, so check its Lights at Lafarge page before a weeknight trip. Last season the City was still running events at the lights on February 6, 2026. The walk itself is flat and paved, one loop of the lake with the lights doubled in the water and the City Centre towers behind them. Go after dark, slowly, and stop on the side facing the fountain. Lafarge Lake-Douglas station, the end of the Millennium Line, is beside the park, and the Town Centre Park lots off Pinetree Way are free. Afterwards, Mariner Brewing on Lansdowne is a short walk for a pint, or Ong Ba Eatery at Henderson Place for something hot and Vietnamese.
Ride the Millennium Line to Lafarge Lake-Douglas or park free in the Town Centre Park lots off Pinetree Way. Walk the lit loop of Lafarge Lake after dark, then warm up at Mariner Brewing on Lansdowne or Ong Ba Eatery at Henderson Place.
