Two fishing docks give you something to anchor the conversation. This is the date for easy and restorative, not impressive. Bring a coffee, watch a dog lose its composure at a duck, and dangle your feet over the water.
This is Como Lake Park at 700 Gatensbury in Central Coquitlam, not Lafarge Lake, so set the map before you go. There's a free lot off Gatensbury; walk the 1 km loop clockwise so you finish at the larger fishing dock on the south side, which catches the best light. The lake is stocked with rainbow trout spring and fall, so you'll see anglers on the two docks, and the quiet bench on the wooded west shore, the part most people walk straight past, is the calmest sit on the lake.
