Kook's Cooks is a small, cheerful room on Austin Avenue doing a Canadian brunch menu with the dial turned toward Seoul. Chef Jay Kook came out of Humber College with honours in 2005 and spent fifteen years as a head chef before opening this, and it shows in the crossovers: bulgogi beef under poached eggs and hollandaise, a kimchi breakfast burrito in a house-made wrap, fried chicken on a waffle dusted with icing sugar. The hashbrowns have their own following. Doors at 8.30 on weekdays and 8 at weekends, closed Tuesdays.
