Natural Wine and PNW Plates at Dachi

A low-lit East Hastings room where Pacific Northwest cooking gets a Japanese edit and the natural wine list has its own devoted regulars.

Dachi is the East Van date for people who like knowing about things before everyone else does. It's a small, low-lit room on East Hastings doing Pacific Northwest cooking with Japanese influence: seasonal small plates built for sharing, in a space where the staff will visibly light up if you ask what they're drinking. The natural wine and sake list is award-winning and genuinely considered, which means the bottles are interesting and the conversation that comes with ordering them is half the evening. The vibe is warm and unfussy enough that one glass reliably turns into three and the table leans a little closer. On weekends the kitchen runs late, so there's no pressure to wrap up just because you're getting somewhere. Sits at a 4.6. Let the staff steer the wine and order more plates than you think you need.
