The date

Let's be honest, most of us save the big dinner for a big occasion and then never find the occasion. This one comes with a date already attached. On Monday, November 9, 2026, Gregory Gourdet, the three-time James Beard Award winner behind Portland's Kann, cooks with Chanthy Yen, the Top Chef Canada season 11 winner, at Touk, Yen's contemporary Cambodian restaurant on Alberni Street. The five-course menu draws on Haitian and Cambodian influences and on seafood and produce from B.C. and Oregon, with B.C. wine pairings. The ticket covers the food, the pairings and gratuity. Seating is communal and family style, so you'll be sharing a table. Our take: this is a splurge for a couple who love food more than they love a private corner table. If you're both social, the shared table is part of the fun. If it's a first date, maybe save it for later. We'd take the 8pm seating so there's nothing to rush off to afterwards.

How to do it

Book through Eventbrite: $199 per person as reported by Daily Hive, listed at $218.26, which Eventbrite says covers five courses, B.C. wine pairings and gratuity. Pick the 5:30pm or 8pm seating; the menu is the same at both. Seating is communal and family style, the dinner is 19+, and tickets are non-refundable. Touk is at 1152 Alberni Street.
