Foodie Experiences
The sunny tiled downtown room with legendary Belgian waffles, a lavender dark chocolate situation, and a line that is genuinely worth it.
Café Medina is Vancouver's evidence that brunch deserves to be taken more seriously as a date format. Daylight, good coffee, something to share, no pressure: a morning or midday date at a sunny, tiled downtown room on Richards Street is criminally underrated. The Belgian waffles come with lavender and dark chocolate, which sounds unlikely and then completely works, and the fricasse will be in your head by Tuesday. There is usually a line. You can book in advance (by donation) or simply walk in and join it. Standing in the line is, counterintuitively, part of the date: you learn a lot about someone when they're waiting for a waffle. Come hungry, order the waffle for the table, and plan to share it. You won't share it.
