More infoThe Galley has run the top floor of the Jericho Sailing Centre since 1990, and nobody comes for a tasting menu; they come for the deck. It looks straight across the water at the downtown skyline and the North Shore mountains, which at sunset is one of the best free shows in the city with a beer in hand. The food is honest beach fare, natural-beef burgers, beer-battered fish and chips, an absurd nacho platter, and a hand-scooped cone for the walk down to the sand after.
Go up to the second floor of the Jericho Sailing Centre and aim for a table along the rail, that view is the entire point. It's counter-service beach food, so keep expectations set to burgers, fish and chips, and the giant nachos rather than fine dining, and grab a hand-scooped cone on the way out. Time it for about an hour before sunset so you're seated when the skyline lights up, and bring a layer, the wind picks up off the water once the sun drops. Members' sailing traffic means it's busiest on warm weekends, so earlier is calmer.
