A Patkau-designed gallery in Whistler Village with the largest permanent display of Emily Carr paintings and a collection of Indigenous masks.
Blackcomb Way, Whistler Village
More infoThe Audain Art Museum opened in Whistler in 2016 in a building by Patkau Architects, founded by Michael Audain and Yoshiko Karasawa. Inside is the largest permanent display of paintings by Emily Carr, an exceptional collection of Indigenous masks, James Hart's The Dance Screen (The Scream Too), and rotating exhibitions. Adult admission is $22, and visitors 18 and under get in free. It's the rainy-day answer in Whistler.
Open Thursday to Monday from 11 am to 6 pm and closed Tuesday and Wednesday, so plan the Whistler day around it. Admission is $22 for adults, $19 for seniors and $15 for young adults 19 to 25 with ID, plus GST; 18 and under are free. Start with the permanent collection for the Emily Carr paintings and the masks, then see what's in the temporary galleries. It sits between Day Lots 3 and 4, so park there. Short on time? Go straight to the Carr room.
