Ballet BC opens its 40th season with Bodies & Voices, a double bill by Dutch choreographers Imre and Marne van Opstal. I'm afraid to forget your smile, a North American premiere, puts six dancers onstage with the Vancouver Chamber Choir singing live, and Miriam is a full-company world premiere with an original score by Amos Ben-Tal. This is the dressed-up date of the week. Oysters and bubbles at Fanny Bay Oyster Bar on Cambie are three minutes from the theatre, and Frankie's Jazz Club on Beatty keeps the night going after. Ticket holders get a free artist talk at 6:30pm before the evening shows. Thursday and Friday 7:30pm, Saturday 1:30pm and 7:30pm. Listed seats run $19 to $155, and there is no late seating.
Book on Ballet BC's site only (other resellers are not legitimate), $19 to $155 by section. Have oysters at Fanny Bay Oyster Bar on Cambie at 5:30pm, walk three minutes to the Queen Elizabeth Theatre for the free 6:30pm artist talk, and be seated before 7:30pm since there is no late entry. Afterwards, Frankie's Jazz Club on Beatty is a four-minute walk.
