More infoKingfishers started in 1996 as a fish and chip stand on River Road and grew into the one proper waterfront table in Maple Ridge. It sits on the bank of the Fraser with the river filling the windows, two seasonal patios plus a covered heated one, and an adults-only bar side behind floor to ceiling sliding glass. The kitchen is West Coast pub cooking done with care, a weekly fresh sheet, scratch sauces, fish that knows where it came from. Closed Mondays, and the river does the rest.
Book a river-side table, that is the whole reason to drive out here, and note the bar side is adults only and has the best glass. It is closed Monday; Tuesday to Thursday runs noon to 10, Friday to 11, and the weekend opens at 11. Ask for the fresh sheet before you order anything else. There is a free lot on site. Kanaka Creek and the Cliff Falls trail are about ten minutes north, and the old Albion ferry landing right below makes an easy stroll after.
