Real temperate rainforest in the middle of Coquitlam, where the conifers are massive, the rain barely gets through and Lost Lake earns its name.
Mundy Park has no business being this good. This is a legitimate block of temperate rainforest sitting right in Coquitlam's suburbs, and the roughly 4 km perimeter loop is so well-groomed and flat that you will get through the whole thing without once discussing footwear or elevation. The towering conifers keep the trail cool, dim and conspiratorially quiet, and when Vancouver drizzle appears, it mostly dissipates somewhere far above you before it becomes your problem. Circle the big loop, take the interior paths down to Mundy Lake, then find Lost Lake, which is tucked away in a manner that fully justifies the name, with benches for sitting and staring at the water. Free, dog-friendly, and genuinely easy to just talk the whole way around. Bring water. There is no coffee cart between the trees.
