A 6.5 km easy loop in Coquitlam ends on a bald knoll with the Pitt marsh, bridges, and Mount Baker.
Minnekhada is the hike the North Shore crowds haven't found yet, which is your gain and their loss. The 6.5 km loop winds through quiet forest and along old farm dikes before a brief rocky push pops you onto a bald little summit staring over the Pitt-Addington Marsh, the rivers, the bridges, and on a clear day, Mount Baker hanging across the border like it came with the view. It's rated easy and takes a couple of unhurried hours, which makes it a genuinely pleasant afternoon rather than a feat. A few honest notes: this is bear country, so make noise as you go, keep your wits about you, and bring dogs only if they're on-leash. Park at the Quarry Road lot, save a snack for the top, and enjoy the view that rewards modest effort rather more generously than it has any right to.
