Bowen Lookout is the cheat code of alpine dates, and there's no shame in using it. From the Cypress Bowl lot you wander past marshy Yew Lake and a subalpine meadow, then tip uphill a gentle 150 metres to a wooden platform perched over Howe Sound, with Bowen and Gambier Islands spread below. The whole thing is 4 km round trip, doable in running shoes.
