More infoOng Ba spent a decade as a tiny West End room with a permanent lineup, then closed in April and reopened July 12 inside Coquitlam's Henderson Place as a 200 seat flagship. The name means grandparents, the family history is on the wall, and the new room is gilded panels, curved booths, warm low light and a proper bar. The menu grew with the square footage: pho crowned with a wagyu beef rib, butter beef tartare, a caramelized pork tomahawk, all on plates stamped with the family name. Lafarge Lake and its lit up evening loop sit five minutes away, which quietly handles the rest of the date.
Take the SkyTrain if you can, because Lincoln Station is across the street and nobody wants to drive home after a pork tomahawk. Order the wagyu beef rib pho for the spectacle and the butter beef tartare because it earns its reputation, then split a dessert. Book ahead for a curved booth, the seats worth having in a 200 seat room. Walk it off after around Lafarge Lake, five minutes away and lit at night.
