The room is 20 seats plus a small patio on West 1st, from the people behind Michelin Guide recommended Karma Indian Bistro, and it describes itself as built for slow meals. The dosas are naturally fermented and cooked to order, the small plates run from idli to gunpowder wings, and there is proper South Indian filter coffee, mango lassi and a short cocktail list. Kitsilano waited years for exactly this restaurant without knowing its name, which turned out to be fitting.
Reserve ahead, because 20 seats in Kitsilano is a math problem on weekends. Order one dosa each, they do not share gracefully, plus gunpowder wings for the table, and finish with filter coffee done the traditional way. It runs noon to 10, later on weekends, so it works as an early dinner before a walk down to Kits Beach, which is exactly what you should do with it.
