Broke & Bougie
Fourteen car-free blocks of Commercial Drive, 100-plus food vendors, vintage Vespas, and admission costs exactly zero dollars.
Each June, Commercial Drive blocks out the cars, leans all the way into its Italian roots, and throws the city's largest free cultural street party. Fourteen blocks, 100-plus food vendors and trucks, live stages, vintage Vespas, and a sea of espresso. Admission is a firm $0. You will, however, spend money on the cannoli because you are only human. Wander it slowly. Share a plate of arancini. Find the buskers. People-watch one of Vancouver's most characterful neighbourhoods at its absolute loudest and most joyful. It is a little chaotic, which is the point. The only plan you need is go hungry, wear comfy shoes, and follow the smell of garlic whenever the decision gets hard. In 2026, it runs Sunday, June 14, noon to 8pm. Mark it now.
