More infoThe Richmond Olympic Oval is the swooping, wave-roofed speed-skating arena from 2010, planted on the Fraser River with a free public waterfront you can wander for miles. Cross the boardwalk over the pond, chase the dyke trail past float planes and mountains, and if you time it for the first Thursday of the month, 2 to 5, slip into the free bobsled simulators to settle who is braver.
Cross the pond on the boardwalk and pedestrian bridges, find the Indigenous public art, then pick up the Middle Arm dyke trail for a flat, breezy river stroll with floatplane-and-mountain views the whole way. If it's the first Thursday of the month (2-5pm), slip into the Olympic Experience for free and settle who's braver on the bobsled and ski-jump simulators. Bring sunglasses, the river light is bright. Budget about 75 minutes before heading back toward Richmond's eats.
