Showshaa is the South Surrey date that doesn't fit neatly into any category, which is exactly the point. It's a modern taproom where the decor is red-leather booths, a movie-camera-and-lights theme and an actual half a rickshaw parked by the door, and the menu is Indian cooking deliberately unbuttoned: butter chicken tacos, tandoori paneer quesadillas, sizzlers, kebabs. Things you didn't know you wanted until they arrived. The bar handles craft cocktails and local beer, because the drinks list here is not an afterthought. It runs more lounge than curry house, which means you come for the food and stay because the booth and the cocktails make it genuinely easy to stay. Order a string of small plates, get two cocktails, claim a red-leather booth, and let this corner of 152 Street be the pleasant surprise it is.
