Candlelit North Indian at Palki

North Van's quietly confident Indian room: rogan josh, naan from the tandoor, and an underground parking situation nobody warns you about.

Palki has been doing the romantic North Indian date night for long enough to have stopped worrying about it, and that confidence shows. The room is dim and warm with interesting decor, the service is attentive without hovering (it knows how to let a conversation breathe), and the food is classic North Indian done properly: rogan josh that falls apart, a chicken Madras with actual depth, dal makhani that's pure comfort, and naan pulled from the tandoor and rushed to your table while it's still doing whatever naan does when it's right. At a 4.5, it ranks near the top of the North Shore. The real detail nobody mentions: there's underground parking in the evenings, which removes exactly thirty seconds of stress completely off the table. Order generously. Stroll Lower Lonsdale after.
