The Kitsilano Showboat has been doing this since the 1930s, which means it predates every date idea you have Googled. It is a wooden amphitheatre at Kits Beach where local bands, choirs and dance troupes perform with English Bay, the North Shore mountains and the sunset behind them. You bring a blanket. That is the plan, and it runs Wednesday through Sunday all summer. Vancouver does the rest, for free.
