More infoThe Kitsilano Showboat has been doing this since the 1930s, which means it predates every date idea you have Googled. It is a wooden amphitheatre at Kits Beach where local bands, choirs and dance troupes perform with English Bay, the North Shore mountains and the sunset behind them. You bring a blanket. That is the plan, and it runs Wednesday through Sunday all summer. Vancouver does the rest, for free.
Shows run Wednesday to Sunday nights all summer (the 2026 season runs roughly mid-June to late August) and start at 7pm, get there 20-30 minutes early to grab a good blanket spot facing both the stage and the water, because you want the sunset in your sightline too. It's completely free (a donation jar circulates; toss in a few dollars to keep a 90-year tradition alive), so this is the move when you want a real evening date for zero dollars. Beach parking fills fast on warm nights, so bike or bus down and pair it with a Kits Beach walk before the music starts.
