Whytecliff Park Tidal Island Explore

Check the tide table first: walk the rocky causeway out to Whyte Islet, and leave before the ocean takes it back.

Just past Horseshoe Bay, where Marine Drive runs out of pavement, Whytecliff Park hides one of the most quietly satisfying low-effort adventures in the region. The mechanic is simple and the stakes are real: check the tide table before you go, because at low tide a rocky causeway surfaces and you can walk out to Whyte Islet, a tiny rock island all to yourselves. Wait too long and the water sneaks back in, which is a story but not the one you want to tell. The rest of the time it's clifftop Howe Sound views, harbour seals, and Canada's first saltwater marine protected area beneath the surface. Pack a picnic, watch the boats slide past, and let the tide set the pace for once. Nature is the plan, and it has a better one than you do.
