A 40-minute ferry hop to The Beachcombers harbour and a bohemian beach pier with a hand-painted mandala.
The Sunshine Coast is the great Vancouver cheat code: it genuinely feels like you flew somewhere remote, but it's a 40-minute ferry from Horseshoe Bay and you don't even need a car. Roberts Creek is the heart of the thing, a genuinely bohemian community with a driftwood beach, a famous hand-painted mandala on the pier, and a general store that functions as the town living room. From there, it's a short hop to Gibsons, the postcard harbour village where The Beachcombers was filmed, all bobbing boats and patio fish-and-chips in the sunshine. There is no agenda here, nothing competing for your attention, no particular place you need to be. It's a hold-hands and lose-track-of-time kind of day, equally good for a couple or a solo reset when Vancouver has ground you down a bit.
