Each summer Coquitlam throws a handful of free outdoor concerts at the Town Centre Park Community Plaza: tribute acts and local headliners from 7 to 9pm, with food trucks rolling in at 6. The setup is deeply easy. Bring a blanket. Grab a taco off a truck. Settle onto the lawn and let the music do its thing while you figure out each other's opinions on tribute bands, which is genuinely useful information. Lafarge Lake is a two-minute stroll for a sunset lap after the encore, if you need somewhere to keep the evening going. The lineup changes every year, so it never calcifies into the same date twice. Free, outdoors, central to the Tri-Cities. The fact that it costs nothing is almost unfair given how reliably good this setup is as a summer night.
