The Five & Dime spends Beacon Avenue's entire nostalgia budget in one room: teal vinyl booths, chrome, a wall of retro clutter and a breakfast menu long enough to need a table of contents. There are stuffed Belgian waffles, banana bread French toast, bennies in several directions, and hashes that run chorizo, turkey, veggie and vegan. No reservations, doors at 8, and the ocean end of Beacon Avenue is a three block walk when you finally roll out.
