Coffee & Chemistry
A tiny from-scratch bake shop and ice cream counter at the top of Beacon Avenue, with outdoor seats a few minutes from the pier.
Quince is a small, busy room near the top of Beacon Avenue where everything in the case was made that morning: quiches, scones, muffins, ice cream sandwiches, and a short savoury list that follows whatever is local and in season. The espresso is properly made, the prices are honest for a seaside town, and the outdoor seating is the reason to turn up in summer. It runs from early morning to mid-afternoon and closes Sunday and Monday, so it belongs to the front half of a Sidney day rather than the back half.
