More infoMin Jin Lee, author of Free Food for Millionaires and Pachinko, a National Book Award finalist, does her first-ever event in Canada at the Chan Centre on Thursday. She is launching American Hagwon, the third book in her planned diaspora quartet, about the Koh family and their all-consuming faith in education. A book talk is an underrated date: you hear someone brilliant think out loud, and you leave with a whole conversation ready-made. Get there early for a pint and dinner at Koerner's Pub, a two-minute walk across campus, under the string lights. Talk starts at 7:30pm in Chan Shun Concert Hall. Seats run $59 to $99 including fees, with a limited number of $30 value seats.
Buy seats through the Chan Centre's event page (UBC Tickets), $59 to $99 with fees included, or $30 value seats while they last. Take the 99 B-Line or R4 to UBC Exchange, eat at Koerner's Pub around 6pm, and walk two minutes to the Chan Centre for the 7:30pm start. Leave time to find your seats; the hall is large.
