For one weekend the Vancouver International Flamenco Festival opens its Aficionado Stage at the Ocean Art Works pavilion on Granville Island, and unlike most of the festival's ticketed shows, this one is free and open to anyone walking by. Local and touring flamenco guitarists, singers and dancers rotate through short sets across the afternoon, close enough that you can watch the footwork and the hand claps up close. It is an easy add-on to a Granville Island wander: grab something from the Public Market first, then follow the guitar over to the pavilion.
