Admission is free (donations welcome), so there's zero pressure if one of you bails after twenty minutes, but you won't. Head straight for the interactive Surrey Stories gallery and the touch-tables, then find the working textile and weaving studio, which is the quiet showstopper most people walk past. Closed Mondays and it shuts at 5:30 (5pm Sunday), so don't drift in at 4:45 expecting a slow wander. Don't miss stepping back outside into Historic Cloverdale afterward, the old main street has antique shops, the Clova Cinema, and a couple of cafes within a two-minute walk, which turns a 45-minute museum stop into a proper outing. Street parking is free and easy, a genuine rarity for a date in Metro Vancouver.
