Seventy metres above a rainforest canyon, wrapped in hundreds of thousands of lights, pretending you're not nervous.
The Canyon Lights setup is genuinely unfair to other winter dates. You are 70 metres above a canyon, on a bridge that gently bounces with every step, surrounded by hundreds of thousands of lights strung through the rainforest at night, and someone keeps reaching for your sleeve without quite admitting why. Capilano goes full fairy-tale for this: the suspension bridge, the Treetops walkways and the Cliffwalk all light up, and a 3D light show gets projected into the trees themselves, which sounds over the top and arrives quietly magical. The best part is the dynamic. It is equal parts romantic and unspoken competition over who is braver, which is exactly the energy a good winter date should have. Whoever grips the railing harder loses the right to call themselves the brave one.
