Surrey's only intact 19th-century farm, with costumed staff, a heritage herb garden, and Blackie Spit trails next door.
Historic Stewart Farm makes a quietly brilliant case for Surrey as a date destination, and the case rests on one very specific fact: this is the only fully intact 19th-century farm left in the city. It sits in Elgin Heritage Park along the Nicomekl River, its Queen Anne farmhouse staffed by people in period costume who will cheerfully explain things you didn't know you wanted to know. Poke through the period rooms, pause in the heritage herb garden (which smells exactly like you'd hope), and watch the river drift past from the orchard. Entry is by donation, the place is wonderfully un-crowded, and Blackie Spit trails are steps away if you want to extend the afternoon. A real story, a real garden, zero lineup.
