Sat, Oct 31 · 7pm-10pmA quarter-century-old Vancouver Halloween tradition: costumed processions with lanterns and live performance move through Strathcona hourly after dark on October 31.
The Parade of Lost Souls has run in Vancouver for more than twenty-five years, and it is the anti-mall-Halloween: no candy, no costume contest stage, just a community-built procession of lanterns, masks and street performance that steps off from Vernon and Napier three times over the night. Watchers line the route and the costumed can join in; either way, it reads more like an outdoor art piece than a parade. A gentler, family-oriented Parade of Little Souls runs earlier at 7pm for anyone bringing kids, and a ticketed after-party with DJs follows for the ones staying out. It's entirely free to watch and dress is whatever your costume calls for.
