Gorgona has fed Ladner Village from the same corner of 48 Avenue since 1996, and it shows in the small things: the saganaki that arrives flaming, the paidakia lamb chops regulars order without looking at the menu, servers who remember what you drank last time. Whitewashed walls, blue trim, a menu that has not chased a single trend in thirty years. It opens at 4:30pm and closes Mondays, which tells you exactly what kind of place it is.
How to do it
Doors open at 4:30pm Tuesday to Sunday and it is closed Monday, so aim early or phone ahead, because Ladner locals have had this place on speed dial for thirty years. Start with the flaming saganaki and the homous, then go paidakia lamb chops or the roast lamb; the moussaka is the safe bet and it is a very good safe bet. Street parking around 48 Avenue is free and easy. Afterwards the Ladner harbour and the boardwalk at the end of Chisholm Street are a five minute stroll down to the water.
