Gourmand Macaron and Friends is a small counter tucked into the Ladner Harbour Centre, and it does one thing at an unreasonably high level: proper French pastry. A long row of macarons, croissants and pain au chocolat with the lamination done right, opera cake and mousse cake sitting in the case, and bread baked by friends nearby. It runs Wednesday to Sunday and daytime only, so treat it as the sweet stop rather than the finale. Prices are gentle for what lands on the plate, and the room is spotless.
