More infoThe Songhees Walkway is the flat, paved path along the Vic West shoreline that most Victoria visitors never find, handing you the famous Inner Harbour skyline with the water between you and downtown. Float homes bob, seaplanes touch down, and the little harbour ferries putter past on their cheerful circuits. Go at dusk, when the whole harbour lights up and the benches every few steps start doing real work.
Start at Songhees Point and follow the flat, well-lit harbour-edge path toward Esquimalt, about 3 km, but turn back whenever the mood says so. This is the postcard angle: float homes, seaplanes touching down, little harbour ferries puttering about, and the whole Inner Harbour framed across the water. There are benches every few steps, so sit when you'd rather watch than walk. Give it about an hour; one of the city's most romantic free strolls earns a slow pace.
